Description
URLs like "https://www.houstonzoo.org/?search=bear" result in an index page listing all posts - I could not find anything about this in Google, so I am wondering why does this exist? Maybe there is a real reason for it, or it is just some kind of old feature?
Wouldn't the right approach be showing the correct frontpage, or atleast the search results page (although it is already defined as "?s="

The
search
query variable isn't provided WordPress. If you want to remove it, try deactivating the plugins on your site one by one to see which one is providing the feature.
