Description
Hello!
I'm the founder and lead engineer at Songlink (https://song.link). We're a platform that helps recording artists, publishers and fans share music across the multitude streaming services. We have an (recently updated and improved) embed experience. We recently consulted with the engineers at Jetpack and WordPress.com to improve our embed experience and ultimately get whitelisted with their services. You can read the entire conversation and process here: https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/9973
There are many recording artists that use WordPress for their websites, and we've gotten lots of requests to have better integration of our embed with WordPress. I've read the guidelines for whitelisting here: https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/contribute/design-decisions/#whitelisting-oembed-providers. I believe we are trusted, established and popular.
I'm happy to answer any and all questions about our services, company, team, etc. Hope to hear back.
Cheers,
Kurt

Hi @johnbillion,
Thanks for the quick response. We do already support oEmbed discovery. I want to confirm that by oEmbed discovery, you're referring to the <link> tags that point to our oEmbed endpoints (as described here: https://oembed.com/#section4)?
If so, we have that set up already. Are there any other advantages to being whitelisted?
Cheers,
Kurt

- Milestone Awaiting Review deleted
- Resolution set to maybelater
- Status changed from new to closed
I'm going to close this one out due to lack of reporter feedback.
@kweiberth if this is still something that you'd like to see added, please feel free to reopen this ticket with answers to all of the questions found here https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/contribute/design-decisions/#adding-new-oembed-providers.
Hi @kweiberth, welcome to WordPress Trac.
Can you answer each of the questions listed in the "Whitelisting oEmbed providers" section of the handbook please? This will enable the WordPress core team to properly assess the maturity and stability of the service. Don't forget that supporting oEmbed discovery is the ideal way to allow WordPress users to embed content from your service, so if you can do that then you don't need to worry about being whitelisted.
