Description

I would request to have all content elements easily editable. The only elements I couldn't change from the wp-admin interface were the footer copyright and wordpress text. I would like to change the Copyright to make it linkable and add creative commons to it. Now I had to do it a technical way by child theming, but not everyone is that technical.

Custom HTML (copyright) & Text widgets (wordpress link) with a third footer or so could be a solution? Only disadvantage is that WordPress doesn't support PHP by default for security reasons so you can't add the actual site name by code. But a lot of sites doesn't use their company name as site name so it can also be some lorum ipsum text.
e.g. © <script>document.write(new Date().getFullYear())</script> My Company

The Twenty Twenty theme handles this the same way all the previous bundled Twenty* themes did.

Replying to joyously:

Good day joyously, Yes. sorry I don't understand the reason behind this remark. I guess there were other improvements too compared to the previous bundled Twenty* themes. The reason for posting this feature request is to improve the theme and its future bundled Twenty* themes.

I would like to add a big +1 to this ticket. I feel that changing the copyright footer shouldn't require creation of a child theme when so much can be accomplished with CSS

If footer credit text were a widget, there would be new widgets area. I feel this situation is out of widgets area context. This would be better the footer credit is editable from customizer instead. However, should other themes follow this rule as well? I think no at this time. If I stand on theme's developer shoes, I would be happy if people could appreciate my work.

Best,
Kharis

  • Keywords close added

I am a little reluctant to change this due to the amount of time that has passed on this ticket. That said, if anyone has strong feelings please add them and we need to get a patch to be considered. For now, I am adding the close keyword. Thank you everyone for your collaboration, this doesn't mean that it can't ever happen it just means with our focus on bug fixes not new features for older themes right now this doesn't fit today.
