Description

Hi.
I am an artist not an IT.

I had repeatedly “Publishing failed. You are probably offline.” while I just correct /add in/to an existing post (images & words). IF I add just 1-2 then no problem. IF I add more & only THEN want to preview or update then this problem comes.
Only “preview” is active BUT... When I click at it it gives NO preview!
Either it just does nothing OR it opens a new tab “generating preview” which ENDLESSLY is turning around and generating NO preview?..

I spent quite an amount of time for the work (several/many/all entires at once) & then see above a pink line “you are probably offline” and see right upper conner non-stop “saving/ updating” (not active).
BUT I AM ONLINE!!! I checked other websites AND internet – all IS ONline!

If I try to renew the website ALL MY WORK DONE is lost!!! (P.S: later I found out it is in "saved automatically" & I could restore it.
BUT I wish this bug to be fixed so that we do not loose so much time.

I checked all my posts/pages. They all start with https.
All is updated.

Mac Catalina. Safari.

I have the theme Advance Portfolio.

Thank you.

Please use support forum for such questions.
This is not a bug and should not be reported in Core Trac.

Support forums link: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

Meanwhile: Make sure your internet connection is stable. Your webhost does not throttle REST API at any level (server, security plugins).

I HAVE already. I have been advised to report this bug.

Why is it NOT a bug though?!
WHat is it then? It seems that you know about this problem?...

Hi there, welcome to WordPress Trac! Thanks for the ticket.

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with WordPress. Please note that this Trac is used for enhancements and bug reporting for the WordPress core software, not for individual support questions.

Does the issue still happen with all plugins disabled and a default theme (Twenty Twenty) activated?

Until the bug is identified and confirmed, continuing with your support topic would be the best option.

Replying to SergeyBiryukov:
Сергей, привет. Спасибо за отклик.

As I wrote I use theme Advance Portfolio - why should it be an obligation to use twenty twenty?! It is not useful for my purpose.

Plug ins - I NEED THEM.
If I would disable them - I do not want to set up everything anew after.
I even do not know how I did it all. I am an artist, not an IT.

WHy, is wordpress not praising itself as an "easy to do without any specific knowledge"? Besides - is it a dictate to use only particular themes and NO plug ins?...
Then I was wrong to pay to my provider for my website being done in wordpress...

I do not understand that
"Howdy!

A contributor marked this ticket with the reporter-feedback keyword. That means we need feedback from you.

Please answer their questions and address their concerns, then remove the keyword, below." ?!

WHat is meant by "key below"??? What shall I remove?

If the problem goes away when using the default theme and no active plugins, then there is certainly no bug in WordPress Core, but in a plugin or theme. That is why we as you to at least test that ttemporarily, or better, continue to use support until a bug is confirmed by others. A bug is an issue any user can observe, as long is set up and used as described in a "how to reproduce" sequence of actions on a fresh installation.

This Trac is for core bugs only. Plugin or theme bugs mus be reported to theme or plugin author/vendor, using our support forums or in other ways.

Thank you. NOW I understand better why you asked to change the theme. I am scared to do so cause I did A LOT of work - don't want it to be lost. ALSO I would have to NOT ONLY to change/try the them but DO A LOT OF WORK AGAIN IN ORDER TO RE-PRODUCE the problem/bug. IF it will happen in THIS theme.
MAybe I will write to my theme author.
THOUGH I thought that wordpress does work with all themes IF it allows the themes to be used there...
