Thanks for the report!

For a status update:

  1. DesktopServer was already removed from the content of Installing a Local Server years ago.
  2. I made a few small edits today:
    • Removed from list on with Code:
"We have tutorials on the following methods: VVV, DesktopServer, MAMP, WampServer, XAMPP."
    • Removed from list on Getting Started:
"Popular alternatives include DesktopServer, MAMP, WampServer, XAMPP, and others."
    • Edited sentence for Installing WampServer:
"such as another local server (XAMPP, DesktopServer, etc.), WebDAV, or Skype." is changed to
"such as XAMPP or another local server, WebDAV, or Skype."
  3. I do not feel comfortable removing the "Installing DesktopServer" page by myself. Also, could a redirect to the main "Installing a Local Server" page be appropriate, or should it simply give the 404 error?
  4. Both Installing from a Zip File and Installing via SVN still contain special notes that begin "Note: If you are using DesktopServer as your local server..." Those notes link to the Installing DesktopServer page, so the notes could remain until the page is gone.
  5. For additional options, I found a draft for Installing Docker. (I think I saw that handbook page published at some point, but it is currently a draft.)

(The Documentation Issue Tracker had two reports about the DesktopServer page: 400 and 522)
