Media won't attach to draft posts

Description
Using the media uploader, media isn't attached to the post unless it was previously published.
If you click "New" and upload an image, you can insert the image into the post, but click on the media icons and the "Gallery" tab doesn't show up. Goto "Media->Library" and that attachment will show as unattached to any post.
This happened on my 2.8 which was automatically updated from 2.7.1. Only Akismet and Easy Contact plugins are installed. I have only confirmed this on 1 WP2.8 installation, but I will try another tonight and report back.

Silly me, this is a duplicate. Chances are it will be addressed in 2.9 when the media uploader is updated anyways.
