Description

Hi everyone,

I've been using Wordpress more and more as a general framework and I am using it to create more of a social site than a blog. It occured to me that it would be nice to have custom visibilities. For example, If there are multiple users, and each has friends, and wants to create a post that he/she only wants to show friends, the post could have a custom visibility type called "shared" or something.

This is something which can be done easily with a custom post status as well as custom fields, but to me it would make sense logically to make it a custom post visibility. Looking into the code it seems to me that this is nowhere near easily implementable at the moment, just throwing it in as an idea.

We already have password protected posts, which is pretty close.

WordPress, out of the box, is not a social network. That's what BuddyPress does, so I don't think this is a feature for Core.

Hi scribu,

sorry about posting this here! I was under the impression that Wordpress is transitioning from the blogging world to the full blown CMS world, and I though it would be a nice CMS feature :)

In any case, thanks, I will use the ideas forum in the future
