Description

Currently, if a theme supports custom header images and a user uploads one of their own images, they need to go to the Media library in order to delete the image. This is not intuitive, there's no text in the admin explaining this step, and it's a problem if they want to rotate randomly through their custom header images.

It would be nice of the user could delete images they've uploaded from the Custom Header page directly.

After building a button to do just this, I decided that adding the ability to delete uploaded headers isn't the right solution. It's confusing.

Instead, I think a short bit of text explaining that uploaded headers can be deleted in the media library is the better solution. Patch is attached.

What's the rationale for it not being a good solution?

I think it makes sense to remove header images on the page where you add them. I've seen more than a few users get confused by this when choosing to show a random header. On the Media screen, it might also make sense to show the image as "Attached As Header," rather than unattached.

Header images in the Customizer address the ability to remove previously-uploaded images from the random image set, and also provide access to the media library for permanent deletion. I think we can close this per that and [30459].
