Description
I used to have the custom permalink structure "/%postname%/" but I wanted to change to the new option "Post name" structure. Because of this change, all my Facebook likes and Google+ recommendations are gone. I wanted to change my structure back to the custom version by selecting the radiobutton and press the "save changes" button. Although the message "Permalink structure updated." is shown, the "Post name" permalink structure radiobutton is still selected. So it is not possible to change from Post name to custom structure permalinks.

If a custom structure is exactly the same as one of the radio button options (which seems to be your case), the corresponding radio button would be checked.
To troubleshoot issues with Facebook likes and Google+ recommendations, please try the support forums: http://wordpress.org/support/
If the new custom permalink structure is still "/%postname%/" then the radio button for "Post name" will continue to be checked. This is correct.
If I change my permalink structure from "Month and name" to a really custom structure, like "/%postname%.html" the actual structure is changed and he radio button for "Custom" is checked, showing the selected pattern.
