Distraction Free Writing mode lacks any controls on touch devices

Description

Distraction Free Writing mode on touch devices is pretty disastrous. All the controls disappear, meaning you can't apply any formatting and - more importantly - you can't save your content or exit fullscreen mode.

Not sure what would be best:

  1. Don't autohide the controls at all on touch devices.
  2. Autohide the controls but add a toggle button which shows up on touch devices to toggle the controls on again.

Another issue is that when zooming in/out you can see the normal admin screen. I would say that should be hidden when using DFW.

I think both solutions given are not the best and we should look how we can solve it with touch actions:

  • On press will show the controls
  • When there is a selection always show the controls. It will be hidden when there isn't a selection.
