WordPress Events and News links should open in a new tab

Description

We have seen that below the widget all three links open in the new tab.

For the "Attend an upcoming event near you" of the "WordPress Events and News" widget links contain external links to third-party URL. So I think these all links should be opened in the new tab.

I have added the screenshot for the better understanding.

Thanks for your report and welcome to Trac! This has been reported a couple of times, see #41337 and #41020 for example. It has been decided that taking control in that way is not a good idea. That's why #41337 was closed as "won't fix".

Pro tip: Google helps finding existing tickets by using site:core.trac.wordpress.org in addition to the search term.
