Description

Hi, we were trying to upload webp images as feature image, but we get a notice that the feature image cannot be in webp. When we do upload we see the image on chrome on desktop but nothing it is showing on mobile (chrome or safari).

Please can you let me know?

Hi @bettinspin,

Welcome to Trac!

It's possible that your web server is not configured with the ability to manipulate the WebP format. If that's the case, you will see "This image cannot be processed by the web server. Convert it to JPEG or PNG before uploading." when trying to upload.

Another way to confirm is to go to the Tools > Site Health page in the admin, click the Info tab at the top, and find the Media Handling section. After expanding that, look to the supported file format sections. If WebP is not listed in that list, that confirms that is the issue.

You'll need to reach out to your hosting provider for support with getting that fixed.

This Trac instance is for the development of the WordPress Core software and not general support requests like this. If you need further assistance figuring out what your specific problem is, you'll need to open a support issue on the WordPress.org support forums.
