  • Component changed from General to Themes
  • Focuses administration added

I think it was intentionally removed during the work on #27055.

Thanks Sergey,

Is it possible to request re-inclusion?
Users used that section quite a bit before 3.9

I guess the reasoning was similar to the one for removing it from plugin installer in #19573.

So it doesn't look like it will be restored, but reconsideration is always an option.

Thanks Sergey,

Will this ticket be considered a reconsideration request or is there another method?

Yes, the ticket is enough for reconsideration. Let's just wait and see what others think.

I Support a "Recently Updated" Section. It gives, users quick access to themes which are regularly being maintained.

Please keep the "Latest" tab, it is one of the few remaining ways for regularly maintained themes to be discovered.

The majority of people discover themes via the WordPress dashboard, very few people actually visit wordpress.org to find themes.

Yes, it will be nice to get back Recently Updated. Thanks

I, too, am in favor of bringing back the recently updated tab.

For many it is one thing to look for when it comes to picking out a theme or plugin.

Hello Sergey,

Theme review team already made it clear that gaming indulged by plugins won't be allowed and updates have to be meaningful. Removing that tab greatly demotivates theme authors from maintaining themes and adding new features, If no one is using the themes then there is no point in creating them and maintaining them.

Did core dev's reconsider? If not can you please put this ticket before them.

  • Milestone changed from Awaiting Review to 4.1

  • Keywords dev-feedback added

#13 @obenland

  • Milestone 4.1 deleted
  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

Thanks tskk for bringing it up.

When the theme install screen was updated, they intentionally removed the "Recently Updated" tab since it didn't return the most meaningful results, or was very helpful for users.

I was trying to find a record of this in the #wordpress-ui IRC channel but had no luck.
