Description

Hi,
I would like to add a social icon for wikipedia. This is for websites that have a corresponding wikipedia page. The W wikipedia icon is inside public domain https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia%27s_W.svg . Trademark policy also allows the usage https://foundation.wikimedia.org/wiki/Trademark_policy

Greetings
Klaas

Thanks for the ticket and the patch!

Twenty Seventeen's readme credits include Font Awesome icons, so we may want to use their SVG instead.

@sabernhardt changed the svg to font aswesome, but I no longer have a wordpress instance to test it

  • Keywords close 2nd-opinion added

Requests for new Twenty Twenty icons were closed last year, in favor of creating a filter (see ticket:48713#comment:7), so perhaps this should be closed as well.

Kinsta describes how to use the Twenty Seventeen filter for any additional SVG icons.

Link to the Twenty Twenty icon announcement: https://make.wordpress.org/core/2020/07/30/themes-field-guide-wordpress-5-5/.

While this announcement was for Twenty Twenty specifically, the same is true for all default themes. Continuing to add requested icons is not sustainable. The necessary filters are in place to allow new icons to be added as needed to suit specific projects.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
